NEWA signs contract for construction of new offices and depot

NEWA has signed at its 17 April Council Meeting a construction contract with Rice
Construction Group to build new offices, an environmental wash-down facility and a works
depot, on land purchased in the new AirSide Commercial Development located adjacent to
Armidale Airport.

Work will commence immediately, and it is planned will be completed by the end of the year.
The new facility will unite all staff and business activities at a single location, greatly enhancing
efficiency and reducing operational costs.

A key area of focus has been environment excellence & compliance, with bunded storage
locations and facilities, together with a specially designed wash-down facility for spray
vehicles, utilising recycled water and ensuring that no waste products are released outside of
the closed system.

The office facilities will accommodate NEWA’s financial, administrative and information
technology systems. Modern staff facilities are to be provided together with a purpose-built
training facility, available to host NEWA’s educational and extension activities.
