Compliance and Enforcement Policy

The Enforcement Policy, which governs the regulatory functions of the New England Weeds Authority (NEWA), recognises the obligations placed upon the Authority by the Biosecurity Act 2015 to enforce the control of scheduled priority weeds on private land.

The policy acknowledges that often owners/occupiers of private land arrange their own Weed Control Plan, and this policy seeks to support the initiatives of those owners/occupiers by requiring the compliance of those persons who do not.
